Srinagar, Jun 26 (KNO): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday dismissed backdoor appointment allegations levelled by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti and termed her claims as politically motivated.
Talking to reporters here, CM Omar, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) invoked a Hindi proverb, “ulta chor kotwal ko daante,” accusing the opposition of raising questions despite having a questionable record on recruitment practices during their tenures.
He challenged the PDP President Mehbooba Mufti to prove her allegations, stating that even a single verifiable case of irregular appointment under the current administration should be presented publicly. “If they can name even one candidate appointed through a backdoor process under our government, we will explain it,” CM Omar said, adding that the administration has already compiled relevant records and will present a detailed factual report through senior ministers in the coming days.
The Chief Minister referred to alleged irregularities in previous recruitment processes, including cases linked to Jammu and Kashmir Bank and other departments, stating that several such appointments had been cancelled by courts or remain under investigation by competent agencies.
He alleged that recruitment-related irregularities were more widespread under previous governments and insisted that his administration would not respond to “baseless political charges” without evidence.
CM Omar also said the government would soon place all facts before the public, asserting that transparency in recruitment remains a priority—(KNO)
